In 1991, our community suffered the tragic loss of three young lives. One of the youths, Kate Conlon, was a graduate of St. Raymond School and her family were longtime parishioners. Kate was a talented athlete who participated in basketball, volleyball, cheerleading and intramural sports. A group of Kate’s friends and neighbors wanted to do something to remember her love of athletics, and thus the Annual Kate Conlon Christmas Tournament was created. In its 2017, its 26th year, the Kate Conlon Tournament hosted 24, 8th grade girls teams over four days.
The 27th Annual Kate Conlon 8th Grade Girls’ Christmas Basketball Tournament will be held Dec. 6–9. Games will be played at St. Raymond, St. Viator High School and Lincoln Middle School with the championship games for the three brackets being held at St. Raymond on the final day of tournament action, Sunday, Dec. 9.
