ABOUT

In the memory of Joey Sykes, a former St. Raymond student who battled a rare form of pediatric cancer with great courage, determination and optimism, the St. Raymond Athletic Association is proud to host the 16th Annual Joey Sykes 8th Grade Boys Basketball Tournament (Thursday, January 16th through Sunday, January 19th).

Net proceeds will be donated to the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
 
 

The 16th Annual Joey Sykes 8th Grade Boys Basketball Tournament will be held Jan. 16–19. Games will be played at St. Raymond and Lincoln Middle School with the championship games for the two brackets being held at St. Raymond on the final day of tournament action, Sunday, Dec. 20.

Thursday, Jan. 17
•    Location: St. Raymond School – 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm
•    Location: Lincoln Middle School (West Gym) – 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm

Friday, Jan. 18
•    Location: St. Raymond School – 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm
•    Location: Lincoln Middle School – 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm - Games run concurrently in Busse & West Gyms

Saturday, Jan. 19
•    Location: St. Raymond School – 9:00 am, 10:00 am, 11:00 am, 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 6:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 20
•    Location:  St. Raymond School – 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm

From the Tournament Directors

The 16th Annual Joey Sykes tournament will feature 16 8th-grade boys teams competing over four days in the St. Raymond School and Lincoln Middle School gyms. The tournament features a Silver and Gold bracket as well as a 3-point contest on Championship Sunday.  

Join us for terrific concessions including Maui Wowi Fruit Smoothies and a bake sale sponsored by the Quiz Bowl Team on Friday and Saturday.

Net proceeds will be donated to the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

PLAY THE RAFFLE

There is a raffle with a chance to win many amazing prizes including:

Tickets will be sold at the games: 
$1 – 1 ticket 
$5- 6 tickets
$20 Head to Toe (tickets number as tall as you are).

PACK THE GYM & COME CHEER ON THE SAINTS 

On Friday night of the Tournament, both St. Raymond 8th-grade boys teams will play. Let’s “Pack the Gym For Joey” that Friday evening! The Athletic Association encourages all students to come out and pack the gym for this great event as we cheer on our teams, raise funds to fight pediatric cancer and celebrate the spirit of Joey Sykes

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

We are in need of volunteers for this important event.  On Thursday and Friday nights, there will be three gyms used for games.  On Saturday, there will be 11 games at St. Raymond. We need your help!
