The 8th Grade Boys A basketball team has been very busy lately! They won both of their recent conference games against St. Theresa and St. Alphonsus.

The coaches challenged the team by entering them in the top level of a Thanksgiving Sunday Shootout in Waukegan, facing some very talented AAU teams from Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.  The boys hung in there and the coaches were proud of their effort and “Never Give Up” attitude!

On Saturday, the team traveled to Chicago to represent St. Raymond’s in the 1st Annual City-Suburb Classic held at St. Francis Xavier Warde School. The Saints won the first game against the host team in a very physical matchup. In the championship game against Our Lady of Perpetual Help, the boys came out fast and strong, making most of their shots in the first half.  Unfortunately, they could not sustain their hot shooting percentage and ended up taking second place in a very well-played game.

The team is playing in a tournament this weekend at Thomas Middle School in Arlington Heights and started with a big win over Cooper Middle School.

Let’s Go Saints!
